Do you love polo? Then don’t miss Polo in the Park, San Francisco’s premier charity polo event! Since 1984, Horses in California, a non-profit organization, has been hosting this day long festival of polo and horse-inspired fun! All proceeds benefit the James S. Brady Therapeutic Riding Program for children with disabilities.
Each year, local and international polo players take to the field to vie for the Eric Pedley Perpetual Trophy and the Elaine McInerney Kozak Perpetual Trophy. Polo is played with four members per team who, while on horseback, attempt to hit a ball through goal posts on the ends of the field using wooden mallets. It is an exciting sport to watch, requiring a precise mental and physical connection between horse and rider.
Join us on Sunday, September 26th, 2010 as we celebrate our 26th Anniversary of Polo in the Park! We have moved our event from the Polo Fields to Bercut Equitation Field due to the unsafe condition of the field turf for horses and riders. We will feature an Arena Polo Tournament and many more horse shows and exhibitions that we have been able to have in the past!
There are many activities throughout the day for the whole family to enjoy!
- Arena Polo Tournament
Arena polo is similar to standard polo but played with a smaller, softer ball and allows the audience to get even closer to all the action!
- English High-Tea Service
Enjoy scrumptous tea sandwiches, scones, sweet treats and a variety of English teas.
- Raffle Drawings
- Fashion Show
Featuring children's fashions from Wee Scotty School of Fashion.
- Live Musical Performances
Musical performances have featured Diego’s Umbrella Band, Opera Quartette, Bagpipers, and Jazz Bands.
- Wine Tasting
Exquisite wines from California and around the world are available for tasting. Recent events have featured wines from Hope & Grace Winery.
- Horse Shows and Exhibition Show Jumping
- Children's Face Painting
And much more!
